Munnar (3N)

Day 1

  • Upon arriving at Kochi Airport, arrange a cab to drive to Munnar.
  • The journey to Munnar will take approximately 3.5 hours by road.
  • If you’re traveling in the morning, be sure to take the time to stop at the stunning waterfalls along the way.
  • Upon arriving in Munnar, treat yourself to a delightful evening tea amidst the stunning tea plantations, creating a truly unforgettable experience.

Munnar Food: There are plenty of excellent dining options in the Anachal region and along Munnar Colony Road, offering a variety of delicious local cuisine.

Munnar Hotel: For the best experience, try to book a hotel located within the tea farms. If that’s not possible, ensure your room offers a clear view of the tea plantations to fully immerse yourself in Munnar’s natural beauty.

Day 2

  • After a hearty breakfast, embark on the picturesque drive along the Munnar-Udumalpet Road. This route includes visits to Eravikulam National Park, where you can explore its wildlife and natural beauty, along with numerous small waterfalls, stunning tea and spice plantations, and the Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary, known for its sandalwood trees. The drive covers 120 km from Munnar city and will take approximately 3 hours, plus additional time spent at Eravikulam National Park.
  • To ensure a smooth visit, it’s recommended to book your tickets for Eravikulam National Park in advance through the park’s official website.
  • If you finish the Munnar-Udumalpet Road drive before 3:30 PM, you can head towards the Munnar Top Station Highway. This scenic route includes stops at Tea Plantations Photo Point, Mattupetty Dam, Echo Point, Kundala Dam, and the Ripple Tea Factory. The round-trip drive covers 50 km from central Munnar and takes about 2 hours, time at stoppages is extra.

Day 3

  • Today’s drive promises to be one of the most scenic experiences of your life, so be sure to start on time to allow for multiple stops along the way and fully take in the breathtaking views.
  • After breakfast, begin your journey along the Kochi-Madurai Road. You’ll encounter stunning viewpoints shortly after leaving Munnar, including Signal Point, Skyfall Viewpoint, Lockhart View Point, and the cloud-covered Lockhart Gap in December. Don’t miss Chinnakanal Waterfalls, Anayirangal View Point, and the Elephant Abode Boating Center, among other beautiful spots. Be sure to stop and enjoy the scenic beauty throughout the drive.
  • You can extend your drive up to Aduvizhanthan, and on your way back, stop for lunch at Pooppara, where you’ll find several good restaurants. If you’re driving a self-rented Zoom car with white plate, you can even enter Tamil Nadu without needing a permit and visit Bodimettu View Point, which is just 2.6 km from Aduvizhanthan. The total drive from Munnar city will cover about 86 km, with 2.5 to 3 hours on the road and stoppage time extra.

Day 4

  • Today marks your last day in Kerala, so take a moment to savour the beautiful morning views of the tea plantations. After breakfast, it’s time to depart for Kochi Airport, which is approximately 110 km from Munnar and will take around 3.5 hours by road.
  • You still have the option to visit a spice garden, which typically takes around 2.5 hours. If you choose to explore one on your way back to Kochi Airport, be sure to add this time to your travel schedule. While the gardens will offer a chance to learn about local spices, they often promote their products like spices and medicines afterwards. To avoid delays, you may want to skip the sales discussions and continue your journey to the airport to ensure you arrive on time.
  • Kochi Airport is relatively small compared to major city airports, so you typically won’t need as much time for check-in and security—about 1 hour is usually sufficient. We recommend departing from Munnar at least 8 hours before your flight. This allows for the 3.5-hour journey, 1 hour at the airport, 1 hour for a meal stop, and an additional 2.5 hours if you plan to visit a spice garden.
  • Make sure to book evening return flight so that you have enough time.

On the way Food: As you make your way back to Kochi Airport, you’ll find plenty of restaurants once you’ve descended from the hills.

Airport Food: Food and water at Kochi Airport tend to be relatively more expensive compared to Delhi and Mumbai airports, so it’s a good idea to plan accordingly.
